Your simple guide to installing our HDF acoustic panels — from the first measurement to the final finishing touch.
A little preparation.
A smoother installation.
Start with a clean, dry, even wall, free from dust, grease and loose paint. Plan your layout before you cut.
Support and secure your panels on a stable work surface, and wear suitable eye, hearing and dust protection when cutting.
Your adhesive allowance
1 tube of Ultra Mount High-Tack Adhesive for every 2 panels.

- Utility knife — for cutting felt
- Sandpaper or sanding block
- Ultra Mount High-Tack Adhesive

- Eye, hearing and dust protection
Working around sockets or switches?
Switch off the relevant electricity supply at the distribution board. Have a qualified electrician remove and refit faceplates and make any adjustments needed for the panel thickness.
Your wall, step by step.
The details make the difference.
Measure your wall
A little planning makes a beautiful finish.
Measure the height and width in more than one place, as walls and ceilings may not be perfectly square. If installing above skirting, measure from the top of the skirting.
Plan where your first and final panels will sit.
Check sockets & switches
Use the same starting points.
Record the size and position of each socket or switch. Measure from your installation baseline and starting edge, then use those same reference points on the correct panel.
Skip this step if your wall has no sockets or switches.
Measure & mark your panel
Measure twice. Cut once.
Transfer your required height onto the panel. Apply masking tape across the cutting area and use a pencil and straight edge to mark your line.
Mark any socket openings on the correct panel and double-check all measurements.
Cut to size
Keep your panel supported and secure.
A circular saw or jigsaw with a blade suitable for HDF is recommended. Cut carefully along your marked line. For socket openings, drill a starter hole inside the marked area and cut with a jigsaw.
Use a sharp utility knife to trim the felt backing. Smooth rough cut edges with sandpaper or a sanding block.
Check the fit
Try it in place before adding glue.
Position the cut panel against the wall to check the height and any socket openings. Make any adjustments before applying adhesive.
The electrical box should align with your prepared opening. Leave faceplate refitting to your electrician after installation.
Apply the adhesive
Three wavy lines. One panel at a time.
Lay the panel face-down on a clean, protected surface. Using a caulking gun, apply three continuous S-shaped lines of Ultra Mount High-Tack Adhesive along the full length of the black felt backing: left, centre and right.
Allow 1 tube for every 2 panels. Follow the adhesive manufacturer's application, working-time and curing instructions.
Position & press into place
Your first panel sets the line.
Position your first panel against the wall. Check it with a spirit level, then press firmly across the panel to make good contact. Continue one panel at a time, checking alignment and slat spacing.
Measure and trim the final panel if needed. Cut felt between slats with a utility knife, or use a suitable saw when cutting through HDF. Allow the adhesive to cure as directed.

Once your panels are securely installed, have your electrician refit any socket or switch faceplates over the finished panels.
Hanging a TV, mirror or shelf?
Fix heavy items through the panel into the appropriate wall structure behind it, using fixings suitable for the wall and load. The acoustic panel itself is not a structural fixing point.
